I do not even check if the market is open for “small” holiday sessions, and frankly, I don’t care! I won’t even bother to check the CME website to see what the holiday trading hours are for the simple fact I feel that trading those “half-day holidays” is a bad move in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen plenty of opportunities with DTS, but no matter how you slice it everything happened on low volume.
Why not take advantage of this day off to recharge and spend some time with friends and family instead? The market will be here on Tuesday… I would hope.
Many of you guys that day trade and work a regular job feel compelled to trade these low volume days, that’s fine, but if you do trade the holiday hours you may not like the result. I have spent the last four years working with Indicator Warehouse, and as you can imagine I talk to A LOT of people, and I hear a ton of scary trading stories. One story I hear all too often is trading those holidays when the trading hours are in the morning only, and you guessed it….the trader got clobbered.
I like trading just as much as the next guy, but I apply common sense to my trading business as well. I have been day trading long enough to know that even with Diversified Trading Systems in my arsenal, nothing helps when the volume is low and the “big boys” just aren’t playing. Take the day off for crying out loud and enjoy yourself and your family…. Like I said: The market will more than likely be there tomorrow!
